Cook, Eat, Blog

According to Michael Pollan writing for the New York Times, cooking has become a spectator sport and with the rise in TV cooking shows perhaps he is right.  But unfortunately we really do need as a society to get back into the kitchen.  Watching other people cook doesn’t mean that we are actually learning anything or switching off the telly and racing to the kitchen with enough fire in our bellies to produce a duxel instead of the usual Monday night frozen chicken Kief .

When not performing my wifely duties and showering endless attention on Mr. Jules, you’ll find me either in the kitchen or in front of my computer.  One blogger cleverly combined writing with cooking and spent a year working her way through Julia Child’s seminal cook book.  Dead-end job by day, foodie at night, Julie Powell risked her marriage, her job and her cats’ well-being by cooking a recipe a day for 365 days in her tiny New York kitchen.  Now made into a film starring Meryl Streep, Julie and Julia is in Swiss Cinemas as from 16 September.

I’m off to practise my Lovely Jubblies, How’s your father’s and know-what-I-means thinking of doing a year of Jamie Oliver.  Perhaps Jennifer Anniston should play me in the movie.

I think that you doing a blog of a year of Jamie Oliver is a GREAT idea! I think Mr. Jules would like that too! Although, Julie Powell’s husband did gain a few extra kilos.
You can invite us around to equally distribute the calories!
